Faking it
Sunlight washing powder, a South African favourite, has been found guilty of false advertising. The “2-in-1 washing powder and fabric softener” which is said to be made of “natural” products, has been found to be lacking the advertised qualities. The brand has been ordered to remove the statements from the packaging & advertising material.
This article reminded me of the Pringles potato tax case. It’s a different issue, but in my opinion still a case of the brand misleading the public. The Pringles case revolves around the potato content of the snack and the associated tax payable in Britain. The judge found that the snack does not contain enough potato ( only 42% ) and that it’s qualities differ too much from the accepted definition of a potato chip to be regarded as such.
Perhaps it’s all just a case of “perception is reality”?
