To be honest I can’t really afford to be throwing stones as my new “hero”, Jack Parow, is what can probably be best described as the king of zef. It seems a new subculture of deliberate zefness has emerged, headed up by the band “Die Antwoord” (The Answer) - not my scene at all, but in a roughly similar style Jack Parow did a song called “Die Vraagstuk” (The Question – probably not the best translation?) with the band Heuwels Fantasties, and recently released a new track called “Jy dink jy’s cooler as ekke” (You think you’re cooler than me)
…and I just spotted a download for the new track on CherryFlava, who describes the style as “Afrikaanse gangster rap”.
Ooook….let’s rather just leave it at that…..
