They don’t make it like they used to

I’m not sure, for the sake of my own sanity, that I should continue on this topic. This past Friday I ordered a pizza from Mimmo’s in Zambesi drive, and it turned out a disaster.

I was told it would be a 15 minute wait. As in my previous article , I don’t really care if it’s 2 hours, as long as I’m told upfront and can then decide whether or not I’d like to wait that long, rather than being forced to wait it out because I’ve already paid.

Failure 1: Pizza took 40 minutes.

I got home, messed around a bit and then got down to the serious business of eating my chili pizza.

Failure 2: Virtually no chillies. The pizza which is supposed to be covered in Jalapenos, had 2 or 3 small pieces hidden away on one slice. Apart from this obvious fuck up, the pizza was soggy and had a sour / uncooked taste. Deciding that I’m not going to waste my time driving all the way back there, explaining the screw up and taking the chance of waiting another 40 minutes for a pizza of bad quality, I tried finding another closer take-away. All closed, so I headed back to Mimmo’s, pizza in hand and BA attitude.

I was surprised to see people who placed orders halfway through my wait still waiting for their orders – I confirmed with them that they’re still waiting and indeed they were – by my estimate they must have been waiting in excess of an hour at this stage.

I did a brief tantrum thingy and then left - I did not see the use in wasting any more of my Friday night. Mimmo’s Zambesi suck at making pizza. Pity the guys from Mimmo’s Pizza in Northampton is a tad far from me, their reviews on urbanspoon.com sounds great :-P Mimmo's Pizza on Urbanspoon
